OwnMusic is a music player that reads audio files and playlists from a folder in your own Dropbox or Google Drive account and plays them on your device. It is developed and operated by an individual developer and has no backend server.
When you connect a cloud account, OwnMusic asks for read-only access to your files
(Google Drive: the drive.readonly scope; Dropbox: files.metadata.read
and files.content.read). The app uses this access only to list the files in the folder
you choose, read audio metadata (tags, cover art, duration), read .m3u8 playlists,
stream audio for playback, and download the tracks you pin for offline listening.
OwnMusic never creates, modifies, moves or deletes anything in your cloud storage.
Everything OwnMusic reads stays on your device: the library index, cover art, downloaded copies of pinned tracks, and playback state are stored in the app's private storage. Your OAuth access and refresh tokens are stored in the platform keychain (Apple Keychain, or Android Keystore-encrypted preferences).
Nothing. The app sends requests only to the cloud provider you connected (Google or Dropbox) in order to read your files. No data is sent to the developer or to any third party. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
You can disconnect an account inside the app at any time, which deletes the stored tokens. You can also revoke OwnMusic's access from your Google Account permissions or your Dropbox connected apps page. Deleting the app removes all data it stored on the device.
OwnMusic's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
